A small contingent from LTC recently attended Wheels around Springwood, a forum organised by local state member Mick De Brinni. The forum was a great opportunity for local cycling affiliated groups to have a say about cycling in the Logan area. It was fantastic to see so many representatives from the various cycling disciplines, as well as recreational cyclists, present a united voice about gaps in current cycling infrastructure and lack of education around cycling, just to name a few topics raised.
The morning was definitely enhanced by free coffee and an awesome display of trials – a sport which has a small but dedicated following here in Australia – and where the skills are truly phenomenal. Watching the guys as they jumped their bikes from small balance beams to similarly small beams drew gasps from the crowd, and was a great way to close the event.
It is hoped that the forum can be the start of something bigger, and that Logan can become a safer and fun place to cycle. For Logan Tri Club, that means better opportunities for training, which adds to a stronger season.
